Atelier Ace's approach to our environments is to seek out narratives, makers, artists and materials that speak to the building, to the site and to the city.

Ace Hotel

Ace Hotel

Ace Hotel is a friendly place designed and run with intention. We believe that it’s better to sleep where each moment and detail is considered, crafted, coalesced.

In 1999, Alex Calderwood and a few friends turned an old Belltown fisherman's hotel into Ace Hotel Seattle. They saw the beautiful bones in the building, the potential of the neighborhood, and filled it with scrappiness and hustle — turning the property into the cornerstone of an under-appreciated area. With grit, determination and a design and market savvy they'd honed over a decade of business and culture making in the city, they worked to rethink the language of hospitality — always familiar, continually new.

Ace Hotel Portland opened in 2007, and along with it the birth of Atelier Ace — the creative catalysts behind each Ace Hotel location since. To date, there is Ace Hotel: New Orleans, Pittsburgh, London, Los Angeles, New York, Palm Springs, Portland, Seattle.

American Trade Hotel

American Trade Hotel

American Trade Hotel and Hall opened its doors in fall 2013 in Panama City, occupying lovingly restored landmark buildings in Casco Viejo. The property stands at the ecological and cultural crossroads of the Americas – a meeting place for people who are interesting and interested, from around the world.

Certain places and times lend themselves to the creation of a historical and cultural shift. They can become symbolic of a larger movement. American Trade Hotel and Hall is a chapter in which each visitor, each person walking the narrow streets, touching the centuries-old buildings presses into them a new piece in of a continually unfolding story. This project is the result of a joint undertaking between Atelier Ace, Panama City-based Conservatorio, Hache Uve and Commune Design. American Trade Hotel is the first luxury addition to the Atelier Ace portfolio.
