We work with bricks and mortar, textiles and comestibles. We also make moments.

Desert Gold

Desert Gold

Every spring when it starts to heat up in the Coachella Valley the desert’s energy calls out to us. We commune with the shamans wielding guitars and drums and keyboards — and even laptops — for the two weekends of Coachella Music Festival and throw a big springtime party at Ace Hotel & Swim Club. Since 2008 we've hosted a multimedia bacchanalia of the fresh, inspired and strange in the desert. It's a chance for festival goers and nomads to relax, recharge and enjoy exciting intersections of culture.

It's the biggest offsite event during the festival. In the past we've partnered with Marc by Marc Jacobs, Tumblr, MailChimp, Third Man Records, Remezcla, Festival NRMAL, The Do-Over, Alternative Apparel, Mark Mothersbaugh, Airbrush Kingdom, Dublab Radio, ¡Reunión!, Tumblr, Dolce Vita, McIntosh, Converse, Opening Ceremony, Dr Martens, Levi's, Ray-Ban, Rolling Stone, Rare Finds, Rudy's Barbershop, Gibson.

Pride 2014

Pride 2014

With a pair of properties opening in London and Los Angeles over the span of just a few months, 2014 was a huge year for our work with Ace Hotel. To tie this flourishing fam together, Atelier teamed with LGBT icon JD Samson to hatch “Everyone” — our first international multi-property Gay Pride celebration. JD programmed and presided over the free, four-city roadshow, with a rotating cast of performers — including Victor Rodriguez, W. Jeremy, Amber Valentine, Rory Phillips, Lauren Flax, Sveta, Kim Anh, Boychild, Wu Tsang and more — on hand at each event.

With sponsorship on board from Delta Airlines and Confetti System, Everyone circled the wagons around Ace’s homes in Downtown Los Angeles, London, New York and Palm Springs in a spirit of unanimity.

5 at 5

5 at 5

The lobby at Ace Hotel New York is bustling all the time. Its open-door policy insures that energy keeps pulsing through the place. Atelier Ace bottled a little bit of that lightning with 5 at 5 — an ongoing, Friday afternoon pop-up concert series we put together with The Bowery Presents and Martin Guitar. The plan was simple: bring in one of our favorite, nationally acclaimed artists, set them up with room and board, and get them to play a one-of-a-kind, five-song, 5pm set for an adoring public.

Father John Misty, Tinariwen, the Thermals and Surfer Blood are a few of the bands that have stopped by so far — with Show Cobra on hand to document audio and video, helping us deliver exclusive content to the rest of the world.

Fashion Week

Fashion Week

Throughout the year, Ace Hotel New York regularly doubles down as a temporary showroom for US and international design houses — with Atelier Ace-coordinated collection launches, trunk shows, pop-ups and other fashion events landing in the lobby all the time. Once Fashion Week hits, Atelier kicks into high gear — transforming the hotel into a central hub for designers, creatives and an army of press, and pooling together with fashion and design pioneers for singular Ace events.

Over the years, Atelier has coupled up with Anna Wintour's Fashion's Night Out, Shapeways, Tavi Gevinson's Rookie Magazine, Martin Greenfield, Terence Koh, Opening Ceremony, Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Rodarte and other top brands and designers to produce pop-up tailoring studios, 3-D printed textile workshops, DIY catwalks and parties of all shapes and sizes.

Since 2009 we've invited some of fashion's finest local makers into guest rooms at Ace Hotel Portland. We block off the second story of the hotel and individual designers take over a room and transform it into a living, breathing expression of their brands and unique inspirations. Neither a trunk nor fashion show, it's a representation of the sensibilities of Portland designers — a portrait of the vibrancy of our local design culture in relation to the larger fashion world in Los Angeles, New York and abroad.
